KOPRI Asian Polar Science Fellowship Program 2015


Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) is a rapidly growing polar research institute of the Republic of Korea, being responsible for the national polar program and an advocate of international cooperation. KOPRI is initiating the Asian Polar Science Fellowship Program in an effort to promote Asian research collaboration, making use of its expanding infrastructure and capacity and also to provide future generation polar researchers with networking opportunities. The Asian Polar Science Fellowship Program consists of two elements: Institute Visiting Program and Field Research Program.

Eligibility a. Establish or early career polar scientist a. Early career polar scientists
Award

a. Travel (round-trip air fare) and living expenses

b. Accommodation (KOPRI Gueshouse)

c. Office and/or laboratory support as arranged with the collaborative KOPRI research group

a. Travel (round-trip fare) and living expenses

b. Accommodation (KOPRI Guesthouse while at KOPRI)

c. Logistics support during the use of KOPRI research platform (Research Vessel ARAON or Arctic-Antarctic Research Stations) 

Duration Up to 3 months at KOPRI Up to 3 months

Awardees will be required to submit a report upon completion of the program

* Early career polar scientist: Graduate students (master/doctoral) and/or within 5 years of a master/doctoral degree recipient.

* Established polar scientist: 5 years or more of a doctoral degree recipient.

 

Guideline for Application

The Asian Polar Science Fellowship Program applicants are highly encouraged to discuss with KOPRI staff scientists before they write and submit a proposal and KOPRI's International cooperation department is willing to assist in this process.
