On the 19th of September 2020, YPASM held a “Beach Clean Up” programme at Pantai Tok Jembal. This was in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA), Malaysian National Commission of UNESCO (SKUM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Professional and Continuing Education Center, Universiti Utara Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Branch (PACE UUM), Trash Hero Batu Buruk, Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu (MBKT), Dapo Pata and Manis FM. The event was launched by YB Hajah Zuraida Md Noor, Terengganu State Assemblyman (ADUN). A total of 542 kilograms of garbage (mainly consisting of plastics, face masks, and ghost nets) were successfully collected within 40 minutes by 250 participants. It is hoped that such programmes can increase the awareness of participants and the community about the importance of preserving coastal and ocean areas for environmental sustainability.
